
Intelligent Transportation Systems
Installation and completion of Intelligent Traffic System work on a statewide basis. Integration and construction of systems including but not limited to:
Ongoing
Installation of Intelligent Transportations System (ITS) devices which includes an adaptive traffic signal system, roadside units (RSUs), System Detectors (radars for counting vehicle volume), closed-circuit television cameras for traffic monitoring, and Dynamic Message Signs (DMS). As there is no existing infrastructure to support these devices, the project also includes 9.5 miles of underground conduit and fiber optic cable to connect the contract devices onto NJDOT’s network.

The work required under this contract includes the installation of new highway Lighting Load Centers and connection to existing Highway Lighting, ITS, Traffic Signal Facilities. Also included is the installation of Conduit and Fiber Optic Cable to reroute the existing Skyway Fiber Optic Cable Connection from the NJDOT Maintenance Building via a new route to allow for the General Construction activities to progress. Additional work included is the installation of new Electrical and Communication Cabinets for the PANYNJ ITS Devices on the Pulaski Skyway.

Removal and Relocation of existing conduit and cable systems in support of steel rehabilitation required at the NY and NJ Towers. Also includes the installation and integration of (4) new VMS Signs, (1) Weather Stations, an d(4) Variable Speed Limit Signs.

Installation of Dynamics Messages Signs (DMS), Camera Surveillance Systems (CSS), and Roadside Units (RSU) throughout the Southern counites of New Jersey.

Installation of Intelligent Transportations System (ITS) devices which includes an adaptive traffic signal system, the first deployment of Roadside Units (RSUs) within the state of New Jersey, System Detectors (radars for counting vehicle volume), and closed-circuit television cameras for traffic monitoring. As there is no existing infrastructure to support these devices, this project involves installing 9.5 miles of conduit and fiber optic cable to bring the previous mentions devices onto NJDOT’s network. The RSU’s will enable communication and data exchange between vehicles and the surrounding infrastructure. RSUs play a crucial role in facilitating vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication, enhancing road safety, traffic efficiency, and overall transportation management.

Installation of various Dynamics Messages Signs (DMS), Camera Surveillance Systems (CSS) throughout the Northern counites of New Jersey.

Installation of four (4) ITS sites which include One (1) standalone Camera Camera Surveillance System (CSS), (1) Standalone Dynamic Message Sign (DMS) site and two (2) Truck Rollover sites which involve a combination of Wight in Motion (WIM) sensors, a DMS, and CSSs to prevent and / or detect an event when a truck has rolled over due to the sharp curves in the roadway.

Construction of 12 miles of underground trenching and conduit to facilitate the installation of 96 strand fiber optic cable as well as four (4) Dynamic Messaging Signs (DMSs), 13 Camera Surveillance System (CSS), and 13 Travel Time Systems (TTS).

Work includes the repair of damaged ITS facilities throughout the northern Counties of New Jersey.

Improvements to (3) traffic signal intersections as well as (1) complete rehabilitation of a traffic signal system is also included.

Electrical support and installation of permanent power & lighting for the Pulaski Skyway Rehabilitation (Contract #4). Installation includes 194 luminaires, navigation and aviation lighting systems, pier lighting, temporary highway lighting systems. This contract also includes ITS work of over 55,000 LF of exposed bridge mounted conduit with 26,000 LF of new fiber optic cable, 2 new Dynamic Messaging Signs, 14 sign structure lighting systems, 4 travel time system sites, and 8 real time travel cameras.

Installation and Replacement of Weigh in Motion Sites throughout the State of New Jersey.

The contract work included the creation of an integrated system interconnecting eighteen traffic signals into one Controlled Traffic Signal System (CTSS). This includes the complete replacement of the existing traffic signal systems at five intersections and geometric improvements and signal modifications to seven other intersections. In addition, the project includes the installation of: Six new traffic cameras for the Camera Surveillance System (CSS), four (4) Travel Time System (TTS), two (2) new permanent electronic Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) and fiber optic wireless communication connecting the entire new integrated system to the Statewide Traffic Management Center in Woodbridge.

Installation and Integration of (7) DMS signs on New Overhead, Cantilever, and Butterfly Sign Structures. All sign Structures were installed on Drilled Shaft Foundations. Contract Work also included (3) 75′ CCTV Camera Poles with Lowering Devices and (3) Transcom Reader Assemblies for NJDOT Traffic Management.

Installation of 12 New DMS Signs and 13 New CCTV Poles and Cameras and all associated power and communication services. All devices were routed over the DOTs infrastructure and integrated into the associated Traffic Operations Center Control Systems. This included the installation of 25 miles of Fiber Optic Infrastructure.

The contract work included the installation of 28 new communication nodes throughout and around the GWB Facility. Provisions for the node power safety, and security were installed. All facility information and security systems were cut over from the existing communication system to the new system and tested.

The contract work included a computerized traffic control system and fiber optic communications system for all of Southern New Jersey. Project included the installation of 80 miles of FO Cable, 22 Cameras, 11 Variable Message Signs, 89 Traffic Signal Intersections, 230,000 square feet of Milling and Paving, 40,000 Square Feet of Sidewalk, and 265 Traffic Foundations. Also included was the general construction of the South Traffic Operations Room and Computer Communication Room.

This Design Build Contract included the Installation of approximately 100 Color CCTV Cameras, 20 VMS’s, 30 Probe Vehicle Detectors at various locations around the Lincoln and Holland Tunnel Entrances in NY and NJ. Devices were connected with FO Cable back to a new head end Communication Center. The contract work also included replacement of the entire FO infrastructure through the Holland Tunnel.

Contract included the installation of VMS Signs, Sign Structures, Sign Foundations, Drill Caissons, Electrical Services, Conduit, CCTV Cameras, and Traffic Monitoring Devices along Route 21 and other nearby highways. Also Included Milling and Paving.

Installation of approximately 50,000 feet of exposed PVC coated conduit and 30,000 feet of fiber optic cable from Fletcher Avenue to Amsterdam Avenue on the Eastbound and Westbound roadways to create a new communication ring. Work also included the installation of 12 Structural steel Platforms for future Communication Cabinets to be installed under Contract GWB-480 which was also constructed by Daidone Electric.
