The general contract for this project includes the complete installation of a new Movable Bridge over the Hackensack River. Electrically, the scope of work includes an entirely new state of the art PLC Control System including Motors, VF Drives, Control Consoles, Traffic Barrier and Warning Gates, etc. Power Work includes a new 13.5KV Electrical Service and Power Distribution System, 480V Power Distribution System, and Backup Power including 1.5MW and 150KW Generators. Other Major subsystems include a CCTV System with PSIM Software, Bridge Lighting, Fire Alarm, Security System, Intercom System, Lighting Protection, a Public Safety Radio Bi-Directional Amplifier System, Heat Trace, Heating and HVAC Systems, and other systems.

Electrical Installation to support the construction of a new Draw Bridge over the Hackensack River. Includes the installation of overhead 4160 Volt incoming utility, a power distribution pad with utility metering, power and lighting panels throughout the bridge, bascule and fender navigational lighting, a new Movable Bridge Control System complete with a Motor Control Center, Standby Generator and Automatic Transfer Switch, Networked Programmable Logic Controller, Railroad Signal Interface Cabinet to facilitate remote operation of the bridge by Conrail, Networked Variable Frequency Drives and Motors; Motor Brakes, Machinery Brakes, span locks, limit switches, Lightning Protection System, Fire and Intrusion Alarm System, HVAC controls and system integration, etc.

The work under this contract consists generally of removal of existing relay- based electrical control system, control desk and instrumentation, thyristor motor drives, wound-rotor motors, and related components; furnishing and installation of Programmable Logic Controller system, new control desk and instrumentation, variable frequency motor drives, inverter duty motors, fiber optic aerial droop cables, bridge lightning protection system and related work at PATH’s Hackensack River Vertical-Lift Bridge and the vicinity thereof in Hudson County, New Jersey.

Installation of a new Control System and a Monitoring System for the NJDOT Route 44 Movable Bridge. The Control system includes a new Motor, Brakes, Drive, MCC, PLC System, Limit Switches, Span Lock, Control Desk, Barrier Gates, Etc. The Monitoring system monitors the electrical and mechanical aspects of the bridge in various ways to alert the NJDOT of critical alarms and failures.
